Angie Barriga-Griffith serves as the Associate Director of Scholarships at Kern Community Foundation, where she oversees the Foundation’s scholarship programs from application through award distribution ensuring a seamless, impactful experience for donors, evaluators, and students alike.

Angie joined the Foundation in February 2018 as the Donor and Foundation Services Coordinator and was promoted to Associate Director of Scholarships in 2024. Since 2019, she has managed more than $4.2 million in scholarship funds, helping over 2,000 students pursue their higher education goals. Her dedication to stewardship, accountability, and student success has strengthened donor engagement and expanded access to educational opportunities throughout Kern County.

Angie’s commitment to service extends well beyond her professional role. For nearly a decade, she has volunteered and fundraised for organizations including the MS Walk, Relay for Life, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Children’s Miracle Network, and the Alzheimer’s Disease Association of Kern County experiences that helped shape her passion for philanthropy and community impact.

Before entering the nonprofit sector, Angie spent more than a decade building a career in customer service, operations, and client relations. She began as a receptionist and advanced to Operations Manager in an import/export auto parts company in Gardena, California, where her participation in SEMA events broadened her industry expertise. After relocating to Bakersfield in 2008, she went on to serve as Marketing Team Lead at Sam’s Club.

A proud mother of three and grandmother of six, Angie considers family her greatest joy and inspiration. In her free time, she enjoys reading and giving back through creative volunteer projects that support local children, families, and nonprofit organizations. Passionate about fostering a culture of generosity, she shares her expertise in event-based fundraising to inspire others to make a meaningful difference in their communities.
