Virtual Events to Honor 2020 Grantees of The Women’s and Girls’ Fund
In consideration of the current situation surrounding the coronavirus and COVID-19, and in response to recent guidance from the California Department of Public Health, The Women’s and Girls’ Fund Vision Committee has made the difficult decision to postpone our 2020 Spring Luncheon scheduled for April 16th at Seven Oaks Country Club. While we regret the inconvenience, we believe this decision is in the best interests of our grantees, guests and event staff.
The luncheon was originally rescheduled to September 15th so we could honor our wonderful grantees and Women Defining Philanthropy honorees. Instead, we will be hosting virtual events for all three grantees, Kern Literacy Council, Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County and Bakersfield Police Activities League (BPAL) in the next few months. Anyone who purchased a ticket to the Spring Luncheon and wishes to receive a refund, can contact Kern Community Foundation at 661.325.5346.
Coming up: On Thursday, September 24, from 11 a.m. till 12:30 p.m., we are hosting our first celebration sharing about Kern Literacy Council’s project. Empowering Women through Education – Build Your Own Path (BYOP). This program focuses on educational attainment for women with children, or of childbearing age. Use this link to access the event on The Women’s and Girls’ Fund Facebook page and indicate that you’ll be joining us.
The program will be provided through an online platform. We invite you to pick up lunch before joining us from the comfort of your home or office. We will share updates from The Women’s and Girls’ fund and share more about Kern Literacy Council and their partnership with Dress for Success thanks to this grant funding.
Save the date for October 22 when we share more about Boys & Girls Club of Kern County . The date of the BPAL event will be shared soon.
