Wind Wolves Preserve events: 2026 Guided Hikes

The Wildlands Conservancy has released the 2026 schedule for guided hiking programs. These Wind Wolves Preserve events are free to the public and offer various ways to explore the local environment with staff assistance. The programs are funded through the Outdoor Equity Grants Program.
Short and Themed Hikes For those looking for specific views or shorter walks, the flyer lists several options:
- Sunrise Hikes: Held on the San Emigdio Canyon Trail on July 19, August 1, and August 23.
- Sunset Strolls: These occur on the Red-Tailed Trail on January 10, February 7, October 24, and December 19.
- Wildflower Hikes: Available on the San Emigdio Canyon Trail during the peak blooming season on March 7 and March 15.
- Stargazing Hikes: Evening treks on the Red-Tailed Trail are scheduled for June 13, July 11, and August 15.
Night and Challenging Hikes Include activities for different skill levels:
- Night Hikes: Five dates are available throughout the summer on the San Emigdio Canyon Trail, including June 19, June 27, July 17, July 25, and August 7.
- Challenge Hikes: These include Overlook Challenges on January 11 and 18, and a Canyon Challenge loop on November 28.
- Backcountry Hikes: Longer treks are scheduled for the Los Osos Wetlands Trail and El Camino Viejo Wilderness Trail on various dates in January, February, and November.
Registration Information: While these hikes are free, the flyer states that reservations are required. Reservations open exactly two weeks before each event date.
