The effort allows participating agencies to gain visibility as they engage the entire community in “One day to celebrate the giving spirit of Kern County!” Following another successful Day of Giving in 2022 ($885\,235 raised!)\, Give Big Kern is gearing up for another opportunity to harness the giving spirit of Kern County to the benefit of our hard-working nonprofits on Tuesday\, May 2. Join us bright and early in Downtown Bakersfield! As donations are coming in we will begin our day at the Liberty Bell at 6am! DESCRIPTION:The annual Dinner at the Derby fundraiser benefiting Youth Connection\, Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County\, and Bakersfield North Rotary Foundation will be off to the races on April 28\, 2023. \nThe races are pre-recorded\, with the winners of each of the 12 races entered into a drawing for the grand prize. There’s only one big winner\, but wagering on the races adds to the excitement. The gambling is aboveboard\, with winners being paid in tickets for the raffle\, which consists of baskets donated by the board members of Youth Connection. The buffet dinner is Southern-themed.
