The Women’s and Girls’ Fund is primarily a volunteer effort supported by Kern Community Foundation and guided by the leadership of the Vision Committee and Community Advisors. The assets of the Fund are professionally managed and invested by Kern Community Foundation, which also provides oversight of Fund grant decisions.
WE will transform the lives of women and girls in Kern County by mobilizing the power and passion of women working together.
• Women Educate to create awareness of women’s and girls’ needs unmet by current strategies.
• Women Endow a permanent fund whose annual yield supports programs benefitting women and girls throughout Kern County.
• Women Empower one another and our girls to become philanthropists and advocates of positive social change.

The 2019-20 Grant Cycle officially opens Monday, September 9, 2019. Click here to access our Online Grants Platform and submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) to apply for grant funding.

Since 2008, The Women’s and Girls’ Fund at Kern Community Foundation has honored outstanding women and girls with a proven record of exceptional generosity and demonstrated commitment to the needs of their community. In 2015, the award was renamed for the founding chair of the Vision Committee, Judi McCarthy, in honor of her dedication to, and generous support for, The Women’s and Girls’ Fund since 2003.
Would you like to nominate a woman or a young woman in our community who demonstrates a philanthropic spirit through giving, volunteering, leading and inspiring others, thereby helping to make Kern County a better place for all?
