Nickel Family Scholarship for Agricultural Education Fund

The Nickel Family Scholarship for Agricultural Education (“Fund”) was established in 2015 by Adele Nickel, on behalf of the Nickel Family and the Nickel Family Trust. The permanently endowed scholarship fund provides academic support to Central Valley students interested in Agriculture.

Who is eligible to receive the scholarship?

The Fund provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to students who are U.S. citizens, residents or former residents and high school graduates of Kern, Merced, Kings, Tulare and Fresno counties of California. Eligible students must have an interest in production agriculture and/or a career in farming or agribusiness. Students must demonstrate motivation, perseverance and a sincere desire to pursue a higher education. The scholarship is available to students admitted to community colleges, and public and private colleges and universities, including accredited technical schools. There shall be no discrimination in the selection of students for aid based upon gender, race, country of origin, or parentage.

Scholarships are provided to students who demonstrate financial need, and may be used for education-related expenses such as tuition, equipment (including calculators and computers), and supplies. Funding may be provided for study abroad if it is part of a school’s formal course of study. Funding shall not be provided for extracurricular activities not part of an educational program, such as vacations or participation in private social, religious or political activities.
